Installing MessageMaster Client

First install the MessageMaster client on the server. Later install it on all the other machines from which you wish to collect MessageMaster messages. These include Event Log messages collected by EventMaster, so you'll need to also install the MessageMaster client first wherever you install the EventMaster client.

Be sure to run the setup program logged in as a user with sufficient privileges to perform all of the installation tasks. You will need to be able to:

• add a service
• set NTFS permissions under the Program Files directory

To deploy the client agent using a silent install, see KB00009. Remember to deploy EventMaster Client as well, and to have it install after MessageMaster client. Alternatively, you can use the console to Push Out the client agents to the machines you want to monitor.

The following images and descriptions provide an explanation of each step of the MessageMaster client installation process:

The Welcome dialog is presented when the installation starts. Press the Next button to continue.

Provide the name of the MessageMaster server. The client needs to know which server is running the MessageMaster server software. Provide that name on this dialog. Just type the name; it does not need \\ in front of it.

Select the folder under which to install the MessageMaster client. All Objective Software, Inc. products should be installed to the same location on any given computer.

Confirm the installation in order to start copying files and complete the installation of the MessageMaster client.

The progress dialog will be displayed while the installation process is proceeding. This will take approximately a minute.
