Configuring MessageMaster Client

The MessageMaster client is a service that runs on your client computers. It has a number of configuration parameters that are stored in the registry of all MessageMaster client computers. These entries control its operation.

Registry Entries for MessageMaster Client

The following registry entries can be set manually, if required.

The registry entry locations given in the table are relative to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Objective Software

Location Name Type Description
  MessageMasterSite REG_SZ

Remote clients that are not part of an Active Directory don't belong to an Active Directory site. They have to be told what site their messages should come from. You can specify the site name in this registry key.

This key is optional, but if not specified for a client that is not part of an Active Directory, the clients messages will come in as 'Unknown Location'.

MessageMaster MessageMasterServer REG_SZ

MessageMaster clients send their messages in to the MessageMaster server. When you install the client, you specify the server name.

In a large organization with a multi-server setup, you could set up different groups of clients to use different MessageMaster servers by controlling this registry entry. Similarly, in a decentralized organization, you could set up clients at different remote sites to use a different MessageMaster Listener this way.

Upcoming feature: Active Directory GPO that will allow you to leverage your existing Active Directory installation to control this setting, and others, for your clients. If you require this functionality sooner, let us know, and we'll move it up in the enhancement list.

MessageMaster MessageMasterQueueURL REG_SZ

MessageMaster clients send their messages in to the MessageMaster server. When you install the client, you specify the server name. This in turn generates the URL that will be used to contact the server.

If you change the MessageMasterServer entry, you must also change this entry to use the new server name.
